Rajnikanth - The Superhero Of The Industry

Rarely does an actor have the ability, the talent and the aura of being in the industry for more than quarter of a century and still be called as a superstar. The incomparable Rajnikanth has been one such great actor.

Ever since he made his debut in the Tamil film of 1975, APOORVA RAAGANGAL, there has been not stopping this man. Year after year he was able to deliver one super hit behind another quite easily amusing his fans in and out giving them what they needed. A frenzy was created around his acting skills and people started worshiping him as a superstar soon enough. Rajni showed signs that he was here to stay and stay long. It was the nineties that he ruled most. Most of his films during that era were super hits and people thronged theatres like anything. No producer ever had to be worried about making profits if he had Rajnikanth in his film. THALAPATHY, MANNAN, ANNAMALAI, VEERA, BADSHA, MUTHU and PADAYAPPA were record breakingly super hits. Such is the popularity of his films that one of his Tamil film MUTHU was the first Tamil film to be dubbed into Japanese. Unbelievable achievement for a regional film. Something may be no other actor can achieve. The success of the film in Japan led the American news magazine Newsweek to comment in a 1999 article that Rajinikanth had "supplanted Leonardo DiCaprio as Japan's trendiest heartthrob".

His recent film ROBOT co starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was another national super hit breaking all records and collecting record revenues. Rajnikanth is also termed to be the highest paid actor in the country even overtaking Amitabh Bachchan at times. Such has been the aura around this man, on whom one story might just not be enough. In fact a book would have to be written to honour this great actor and his talents. For more on Rajnikanth, keep coming back to this section.
