Inflation has not even spared kites. About 20 kites cost around Rs 50, and the better ones around Rs 95. Understanding this grave scenario, Sonam Kapoor has gifted about 3000 kites and phirkis to her school and has asked kids to fly kites on this lovely occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The kites are bought from Ahmedabad for her school Arya Vidya Mandir. Sonam has written a letter to her Principal stating that since she is a part of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), she has sent cotton-coated manjas and not the glass coated ones, that kill birds.
