Early Life

He was born on September 23, 1957 in Kolkata. His father was Pushpati Bhattacharya. He was a vocalist and a composer. His father trained him to sing and play the tabla. He got himself a degree in commerce from the Calcutta University. He began to perform live before an audience in 1979, when he sang at restaurants and shows in and around Calcutta.
