Advice: The fabulous climax fight between Khali and Saahil Khan makes it worth a watch for the vacationing kids.
RAMAA THE SAVIOUR works on an interesting premise of integrating video game action with real time adventure. However, the idea does not tranlate into an engaging script.
The film revolves around six kids who are transported to the world of the video game they are playing. In that realm of fantasy the kids meet up with the hero - Ramaa (Saahil Khan with those bulked up muscles!) who rescues them from the evil clutches of Kali (Taleb Ibrahim) and co. One of Kali's assistants Samara (Tanushree Dutta) switches sides soon after she realizes the malafide intentions of her boss. Kali's right hand man Dalip Singh Rana is the man to watch out for, that's the role played by the Great Khali. The film climaxes in a bloody battle between Ramaa and Dalip aka Khali, which the kids and Samara try to manipulate the fight with two remote control devices they find.
Reshu Nath's story and screenplay tends to be confusing for the viewer as the real and imaginary worlds overlap. For a major part of the film, the kids as well as our hero Ramaa just wander aimlessly in the jungles.
The highlight of the film is undoubtedly the climax fight replete with special effects - flying off the cliff and fights over water et al. Kids will relish this neatly choreographed fantasy fight suffused with kung-fu chops.
Also mention-worthy is the animation incorporated in the narrative.
Director Haadi Abrar fails to draw much from his actors. Thankfully Khali's voice has been dubbed but he wears one static expression throughout the film. Saahil Khan flaunts body but is left chort changed dialogues. Tanushree pitches in a brave effort carrying out all those action sequences on her own. The kids get to their true nature by being irritatingly loud at points but are bearable otherwise. All that villain Taleb Singh manages to show is his red eyes and huge biceps - forget expressions!
On a whole RAMAA THE SAVIOUR is a passable affair. Vacationing kids may like it if they try hard not to understand the story. Just for the fab climax fight, let the kid in you take over while watching the film.http://www.bollywoodchaska.com/content/ramaa_saviour_movie_review-1707/
